Exploratory Workshop, Alicante, Spain, November 28, 2013
University of Alicante (Prof. Dr. María Teresa Soler and Amparo Navarro) and WU -Vienna University of Economics and Business: Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law and IBFD (Prof. Dr. Pasquale Pistone) in collaboration with the Universities of Lausanne, Lisboa, Catholique de Louvain and Salerno
invite you to participate as speaker in our exploratory workshop on R&D – Europe and taxes on business meeting the challenges of 2020. The workshop provides an opportunity for academics and business players to come together, exchange ideas, and discuss emerging issues.
The workshop will be developed through sessions consisting in a presentation of the topic by invited speakers from the above mentioned entities and speakers chosen following this call for papers. The organizers are seeking contributions to cover two vacancies in each of these panels. These contributions will consist of short presentations (10 min.max.) and the written version will be published together with the rest of the presentations. The content of the workshop will deal with the following topics:
- R&D Concept
- State aids
- Incentives and tax regimes
- Positive tax integration in the European Union and the role of harmonization
- Tax Treaties
Papers are welcome from Professors, post doctoral researchers and doctoral students on R&D, tax law and State aid law issues including interdisciplinary contents related to the main topic, such as intellectual property or royalties specially from the EU Law perspective. The authors of the accepted papers are committed to attend the workshop in Alicante at their own expenses; information about accommodation will be provided.
Abstracts must be submitted by 22 July 2013 and will have to include the following information:
a) Name, occupation, institution to whom the proposer belongs and contact information.
b) Title of the paper.
c) Abstract related with the proposed topics.
d) CV (including a selection of 5 relevant publications as well as publications related to the proposed topics)
f) Summary of previous, current and already submitted future research subjects.

Notification of acceptance: 29 July 2013
Final papers due: 28 October 2013
Presentations: 18 November 2013

All accepted papers will be peer reviewed by members of the organizing committee or other independent reviewers (where necessary). Abstracts must not exceed 600 words. No figures, tables, footnotes, endnotes, or other references should be included in an abstract. Papers must not exceed in any case 10000 words and must be submitted in PDF format or MS Word.
